Release-Reset-Re-Energize LYF 4U

Hello and Happy September to you,

Its a new month and time of release, reset and re-energizing,

Please note this is my opinion..and will no doubt vary from another's..

Many years ago I worked with Rape Crisis,

I volunteered part-time on the 24-hour phone line, but I predominantly worked as a program facilitator in secondary colleges, helping clients understand that the words 'no' and 'yes' must be asked and heard before sexual intercourse takes place. That mixed messages, alcohol, drugs, behaviours, or clothing choices are not prerequisites to 'yes' or 'no'.

It was about how to be heard, valued, and safe.

Another role was to accompany clients who had been raped and were going  through the court process to achieve a conviction against the offender/s.

At the courtrooms, the courts have "side or privacy rooms to wait in while the case is coming up. Naturally a very appropriate space for privacy and protection.

What I never understood was that these rooms were called the "Victims Room."

This is where I am challenged.

After any horrific event many spend so much of their lives believing that it all happened to them—that they are victims of circumstance—locking them into a cycle where they constantly suffer.

That the worst things keep happening to them, as if that's all they are worth, or made for, or how it will always be.

That they are  victims, in every sense of the word.

For some, they think they have "earned their 'victim stripes'" and then carry them as badges of hardship to endure longterm.

Things do happen—terrible, unspeakable things—everywhere, often..things that shouldn't happen do.

The only thing any of us get to choose or decide is whether those things that happen—whether they happen to you or not because of you—belong to someone else.

While yes, you are the receiver at that time, those experiences are also someone else's experiences you happen to be present for, through no fault of your own. You do not have to continue being the receiver...

Yes, you must fully feel and vent pain in the way that works for you, and you can also still choose the best, path forward.

Or not.

Both are part of your choice.

This is only part of how you begin to move past the experience.

HOW TO: Release, Reset and Re-energize U

Your chosen practise and persistence of self-love/mindfulness is not in spite of painful experiences; it is because of who you are and how you have moved  beyond it.

A choice we all make  amongst even the most painful storms of life.

You can choose to be a victor not victim

You can choose to be a Striver not a survivor.

You can go beyond your painful clouds and create or foresee a future, a future with you smiling in it... that is your right as a beautiful human no matter your age, gender, or circumstance.

Never give yourself up.

There is always a way forward.

Find a way to walk through it.

Ask for help if you need it.

Because whatever it is, it is no more, with your decision to make it so.

Ahhh Big Breath

Let's go make this September the month of release, reset and re-energize 4U

I'm walking with you all the way x :)
