Hmmmm stress.. We all have it Appearing like unwanted pimples on a teenager's face, or an aching back on a labourer's body, or mental fatigue in an office worker's headspace after a long day at the screen or the children unwell and reluctant. As we move towards the end of the year it can seem as if even at only 6 weeks until Christmas - it's too far away yet too much to do between then and now. That aching feeling of a tough problem, a challenge to overcome , or a pending issue to resolve, and that all famous insurmountable xmas to do list to complete. Stress comes in many forms/shapes/sizes. It shows up like an unwelcome visitor , and definitely never invited. Not consciously , anyway. MAREES MAGIC QUOTE; There are some like James Cash Penny (unusual name?) who in 1875-1971 founded the IC Penny Stores) ahhh that makes sense/cents to me now) was quoted saying;"I am grateful for all of my problems. After each one was overcome, I became stronger and more able to meet those that were still to come. I grew in all my difficulties." Now this quote may conjure up responses such as BS when one is stressed..Yet it is quite true.
Stress is a great teacher, in that it teaches us what and how to manage our busy lives in ways that support life. Stress teaches that we do not have to conform to what society deems a perfect Christmas. Stress teaches that your children would enjoy a happy peaceful parent who loves more that they buy. Stress teaches that we all have a limit (mind/body/emotion/spirit- learn to know your own through self management rather than complaint. Stress reminds us to lighten up.
That balance is the key.
Practise showing up in your life with these questions: What am I willing to give up in order to ensure I get what I want? Is what I am choosing to be stressfully reactive about going to matter next week, next month or next year? How do I want to be remembered by my self/family/friends? Is it really worth stressing about? Crazy as it may seem, stress can be very helpful- It enhances one of the greatest traits to have - no matter what you are studying, striving, struggling, wanting, aiming for - stress to do that grows the trait of perseverance.
"Ain't no mountain high enough" "Ain't no river wide enough".... You are always capable of more than you know.. By choice, you always have a choice.
